organized chaos
.
entropy is a measure of disorder. i chose to name this hanging light design entropy as a reference the seemingly randomized orientation of each light arm (although the layout is intentional).
.
precise joinery allows the disordered arms to come together as a cohesive form. by @ovuud

wanted to share the full spectrum on this album, not just final piece but initial bending process to final installation (what a beautiful room for this piece to live) taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by @ovuud

reactor - nightlight color series
.
batch of 14 reactor nightlights. each having a unique colorway and streamlined housing.

this batch of reactors are available in a five fixed brightness versions - rated from 0/4 to 4/4. each nightlight has a single, non-adjustable brightness level. Brightness ratings of 3/4 and 4/4 are recommended for hallways while 1/4 and 2/4 are recommended for bedrooms. a brightness rating of 0/4 is intended for decorative use only.

in addition to the first 14 Reactor nightlights shown below, there is also a wildcard option available for order. a wildcard reactor will come in a color scheme most likely not previously shown - but it’ll be a surprise in how it comes out.
.
they’re available to grab on my website - with a 🔗 in my bio.

~3 months of work in 70 seconds

this build was extremely challenging and kind of difficult to fit everything into one process video, but i am pretty pleased with the end result of this hanging light // chandelier. by @ovuud

vine (ii) - hanging light
.
revisiting the vine with this large-scale version.
.
second iteration includes updates to essentially every aspect of the design. the light housings build off of recent work while adding a completely new two-way unique light elements that are intimately surrounded by the sculptural wooden bodies.
.
this build feels like i unlocked something. it has me embracing the craft side of my practice (designer vs craftsperson is a whole different discussion). so much of this build was dependent on actively using my eye and dipping into hand-fabrication technique that i’ve built-up over the past decade - especially with the hand-bent freeform spine and hand-finished light elements. this is properly the closest to a build feeling like a part of me. i’m eager to tackle more larger scale pieces like this.
.
extremely thankful to clients and design colleagues (@ashlimizell) that trusted me to execute this one.
.
Vine (ii) - freeform hand-bent ash, sculpted wooden housings, hand-wrapped fabric light housings, hand-applied wax finish. 2700K LED, fully dimmable.

reactor - a night light i designed for @duddhaus & @jonald.dudd. to be shown @thefutureperfect as part of dudd lite, opening this week and running through the end of june.

.
taking inspiration from a fuel rod assembly in a nuclear reactor.
.
pretty fun challenge - especially considering scale and weight. i have never designed something this small. taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by @ovuud

going full tartan
.
.
building a warp floor light by creating a undulating wooden grid. light housings are positioned in each void of the grid’s framework. the tight interfaces between the grid and light housings create a continuously flowing face that gives the warped effect.
.
this second iteration also uses a new color way (the warm pinkish glow is great), which aesthetically resembles a simple tartan pattern (plaid). by @ovuud
