We’re so thrilled to welcome our newest faculty additions!

James Wyman

James Wyman is principal timpanist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO), a position he has held since September of 2013. Prior to his appointment with the BSO, Wyman held principal timpani positions with the Erie Philharmonic, the Reading Symphony and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
He has also performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, the National Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Detroit Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, the West Virginia Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony, the Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, the American Sinfonietta, and spent two summers as guest principal timpanist of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music.
Wyman is an active educator, teaching clinics and master classes throughout the Midwest. He is currently on faculty at Temple University and the Brevard Summer Music Festival. He has previously served on the faculty at the University of Maryland in College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He earned his BM at Baldwin Wallace University and his MM at Carnegie Mellon University. His teachers have included Josh Ryan, Paul Yancich, Timothy K. Adams, Paul Evans, and Christopher Allen.

Charlie Rosmarin

Charlie Rosmarin joined The Philadelphia Orchestra as associate principal percussion in January 2024. Prior to that he has performed with the Boston Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Houston Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, the Utah Symphony, the Sarasota Orchestra, and the Malaysia Philharmonic. He also held a fellowship with the New World Symphony for four seasons.
The New York Times commented, “Charles Rosmarin handled herculean labors heroically,” in response to his chamber performance of Peter Maxwell Davies’s De Assumptione Beatae Mariae Virginis. He has also performed as soloist with the New World Symphony, playing Gabriella Smith’s Riprap for marimba and string quartet, as well as with the National Repertory Orchestra, playing Russell Peck’s triple concerto The Glory and the Grandeur.
Mr. Rosmarin has spent summers with the Tanglewood Music Center, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Music Academy of the West, the Alan Abel Orchestral Percussion Seminar, the Spoleto Music Festival, the Texas Music Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, and the Aspen Music Festival.
Mr. Rosmarin also plays percussion in a period-performance context, performing with New York’s Trinity Wall Street Baroque Ensemble, the Clarion Orchestra, the Yale Schola Cantorum, the New Vintage Baroque, and the Juilliard School’s historical performance program, Juilliard415.
Mr. Rosmarin received an undergraduate degree from the Juilliard School, studying with Dan Druckman, and a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory, studying with Will Hudgins. He has also studied with Ted Atkatz at the Colburn School and Matt Strauss at Rice University. by @owlpercussion
