This is what it looks like when our community gathers with intention.

Thank you to our community partners and panelists, Utcha Sawyers (@bgc_es), Charanjit Singh (@schcontario), Stephanie Rudnick (@elitecamps), and to our youth leaders, Jerome Mugambi (@jeromemugambi), Malcolm Duvivier (@builtdifferent.ca), Jon Kabongo (@jon.kabongo), and Pacifique Shema-Ntigulirwa (@nolimitpaci), for sharing perspectives on how we could improve the health, safety, and wellbeing of our communities.

To our co-hosts @emceeebone and @kadiibarrie for your energy and support in cultivating the kind of dialogue that inspires action.

Special thanks Chef Hassan’s Kitchen (@chefhassanskitchen) for providing the nourishment and to @torontotempo and the @scarboroughshootingstars for their generous giveaways and for investing in the next generation.

Grateful to @torontohousing for the ongoing collaboration and support in equipping leaders with the resources to become agents of change in their communities. Thank you to @utsc @utscsicieeil for assisting us and providing the space to inspire this transformative work.

Let’s keep building.

It’s not everyday you get to see young men from different neighbourhoods across the city come together.

I learned over the course of my career that basketball has the power to break down barriers and build bonds that last a lifetime.

Over the course of three days, we shared what it takes be a champion — not just on the court, also in our communities. Grateful for every experience and lesson that this game brings. taken in Toronto, Ontario by @ownyourimpact.co

If you could bring the city together, how would you do it?

We started with 40 young men from different neighbourhoods. And we did it with basketball.

Grateful for every young man who showed up, rose up, and chose to grow. This one’s for you.

Thank you to our partners:

@torontohousing
@elitecamps
@hoopdreamscamp
@cebleague

…and to the City of Toronto for making this possible.

This is a tribute to my brothers and my hometown.

From Scarborough to the World.

Parents, youth, faith leaders, and caregivers — sharing their stories and their solutions for ending gun violence. In their own words.
