”UNHOLY GRAIL”
Seamless 14” x 6,5” brass snare drum.

Equipped with both the 3-position trick strainer and 3-position DW butt end.
Custom machined aluminum gaskets under eight lugs and custom tailored Zoran Bibin 18-strand snare wires.

Ok..another INSANE snare drum. This one comes from @oxidinstruments and Sami the madman!!
14x6.25 “Cascabell” cast bronze with a cast bronze hoop on the top and a straight brass hoops on the bottom. DW Mag Throw aaaaaaand WENGE edges and badge🤯🤯
Everything you see was done by hand—the carving markings on the shell and the hoop (also on the inside of the hoop), brass tension rods and the whole thing given that special OXid look. It’s sexy, mind-blowing, and sounds just as good as it looks!! I think this is one of Sami’s best builds so far and I am honored to be the first owner of an OXid drum in the USA. I can’t think of anything else to say. It’s just….outrageous!🔥🤩🤘🏻🇫🇮🙌 Thanks Sami! by @oxidinstruments

I made a wooden wing nut for a small aux-hihat and it took one hour for 5-minute-crafts.
Wonder why?
That plastic box has a wooden sound, maybe that’s why… Btw dig that hat sound? 10” mild steel!

Recently I got some cymbals to be repaired from edge cracks and I did. Then it happened, what I thought would happen eventually anyway, never expected, always feared: one of the cymbals re-cracked right from where I had made the repair.
😨
I always clean the cymbal and examine the crack with a magnifier from both sides of the cymbal because the crack could be longer on the other side. Then I estimate how long even further the crack could be _INSIDE_ the material and make the repair a bit more further just for good measure.

Still, cymbal could crack more for many reasons.

Fortunately the customer had good ear and eyes to catch the initial crack very early so it was a small one to begin with and it was the same with the following crack. He brought it back for a warranty repair and here is a picture of the cymbal after two repair cuts at the same heading. I took extra measures even further but still it looks like it was repaired only once.

Clark McMenemy of IHLO performed with OXid 14x8 brass snare (and oxid modified china cymbal and my stack too) for the show while rest of the kit was provided by Backline Rental Finland (btw super service from them, thank you very much!)

Because of two parallel stages the soundcheck was done with headphones while the other had show going on so here you can hear the organic acoustic ambient of the drums - and also Andy's singing on top (lungs much?)

OXid “Octoxidus” Custom snare drum :
• 13”x7” with 8 swiveled tube lugs
• Seamless deep drawn 1mm aluminum shell
• In shop handmade lugs and hoops
• Trick 3-position strainer
• 6mm thick steam bent oak banner
• 4 vent holes

No paints used: the steel is tempered to color and aluminum smeared with soot. Oak is darkened with vinegar solution and live fire and left raw and unfinished.
