Ankea Festival you absolutely blew my socks off - Finland is always a good time, but we were all really impressed by how well-organised, smooth and professional this show was for it's first incarnation. Many more to follow I'm sure 💪 🇫🇮🤳

MVP is of course Sami over at @oxidinstruments - man went above and beyond to help out with extra gear (including that beautiful 14x8 brass monster snare 😍) teching and a light dusting of video on top of everything else - make sure you give him a follow if you're into gorgeous, handcrafted drums

@oxidinstruments shows off this insane stretched violently 5.5” deep snare to 6.5” depth per the requested side snare that he did!

This bad boy is wild!!

Here is more from @oxidinstruments on this snare:

“This is a heavy modification for the customer’s cheapo flea-market find. Omnivent concept to make the bottom head/snare action super pronounced, tune looow, and kill the top head with heavy dampening. Named it ”Tussari” because the sound, typed ”Tuschari” for the style 🤠”

What a perfect work of scary art!!

Thanks, @oxidinstruments, for sharing this with us all!

Highlight some drums today. First up is The Orchan from @oxidinstruments
If you’ve seen Sami’s build before, you know he’s a bit of a mad scientist. This drum is pretty crazy-all stave construction from maple with a bit of Wenge in there too. It looks like an asteroid both inside and out. It’s all hand-carved and painted and check out those lugs—hand drilled and tapped solid iron rebar.
We also have the custom snare effects you see here-all handmade as well. The brass jingles are cymbal cut-outs that mods that Sami does himself and then we have the laser cut wooden badge that Sami engraved with runes which say “Orchan”. The leather part is from one of his old Fire Department Gloves.
Super thick all around and sounds insane!
Sami is not only an awesome drum builder but a close friend. Check out his stuff😎🔥
Thanks buddy!

@oxidinstruments shows off this stunning 14” x 7” snare drum with a shell that is made out of drumsticks and resin.

It has @bibinzoran custom snare wires and the DW Mag strainer and a 3-position butt end.

This snare drum shell is made of a customer's drumsticks that were retired from gigs, rehearsals, and studio sessions.

This drum had maybe thousands of flams and diddlyduddles before the first batter head was installed. 😏😉

Thanks for sharing @oxidinstruments

Great weekend behind! We had a fantastic show at Lohja Spa on Saturday and on Sunday I had a drum clinic at @dafry.fi Rumpupäivä! The event had such a nice vibe and it was great to catch up and talk drums with friends and colleagues.

Ok..another INSANE snare drum. This one comes from @oxidinstruments and Sami the madman!!
14x6.25 “Cascabell” cast bronze with a cast bronze hoop on the top and a straight brass hoops on the bottom. DW Mag Throw aaaaaaand WENGE edges and badge🤯🤯
Everything you see was done by hand—the carving markings on the shell and the hoop (also on the inside of the hoop), brass tension rods and the whole thing given that special OXid look. It’s sexy, mind-blowing, and sounds just as good as it looks!! I think this is one of Sami’s best builds so far and I am honored to be the first owner of an OXid drum in the USA. I can’t think of anything else to say. It’s just….outrageous!🔥🤩🤘🏻🇫🇮🙌 Thanks Sami!

Next up a big THANK YOU to Sami @oxidinstruments for this custom hand-hammered steel clapstack! The hammering marks and patina really adds to the great looks. These are dark and trashy with a sharp attack and no sustain. Also…LOUD!!
Super happy with these! I’m honored to be Sami’s first customer in the USA!
Check out OXid!! Sami is the best! He makes drums too folks!!!

@kaihahto is very happy in this pic: he had just finished recording drumtracks to @nightwish ’s 10th album.
I am very happy because he used these effect cymbals I made exclusively for this purpose.
What a great day!

Now back to work, talk u later—->
(Just had to drop this brag online)
