It has been an amazing and long day! We cannot say thank you enough to everyone that turned out! Special shout out to @citycorps @oxnardrec @oxnardlibrary @friendsbooksnthings and the amazing Friends of Library friends and family! This is an amazing event to put together, but it takes dozens of bookish hard workers and countless hours to make it happen! A larger thank for all your purchases and donations! We were able to fundraiser just under 2k for the Oxnard Library through this single event! Let's keep promoting the library and sharing the love for reading! Big announcement coming soon!

Perhaps our greatest achievement restoring nature in the city to date has been installing this MiniNature Reserve at the Oxnard Public Library.

A little over two months after this garden was installed, we can already see nature reclaiming its rightful space in @downtownoxnard. Native strawberries are ripening, dark eyed juncos are scavenging, and painted ladies are feeding on the wildflowers. And now just before summer, a beautiful addition to the garden is on its way that will help future generations appreciate its importance. Keep following our page, to learn what it is.

This garden was a joint effort between @oxnardlibrary , @oxnardlibraryfriends and @mininaturereserve .

@citycorps spread cover mulch donated by @agrominpremiumsoils. And Parks staff removed the old struggling shrubs.

Plants were sourced from local nurseries including @matilijanursery, @yesyesnursery, Valley Growers Nursery, and @growingworkstpf. and seeds for wildflowers come from @bloombombs_org

And of course we can't forget all of the volunteers who participated in the planting, hand watering, and advocacy of this garden.

While waiting for the announcement, if you would like to help us continue in our mission to restore nature in the city, please consider donating to one of our fundraisers at the link in the bio. We have one to give away native plant kits next fall, one to help the 110 orange, and more.

Want to help the city of Oxnard with filling in a comminuty survey? The city is mailing these flyers out soon. Here is a chance (scan the qr code) to get a head start! Let the city know where you want your tax dollars spent! Let's make Oxnard greater into the city we all want it to be! (Wouldn't mind more library support, in our friendly opinion 😉😊📚) taken in Oxnard, California by @oxnardlibraryfriends
