I believe I’ve gradually developed a kind of emotional minimalism where I no longer overinvest in arrivals or departures. It’s as if my mind has learned to regulate itself by lowering the intensity of attachment. I don’t experience absence as loss anymore, nor presence as something permanent. Everything feels transient, and I’ve internalized that truth. I notice in myself a quiet detachment not emptiness, but a controlled distancing. Almost like a defense mechanism refined over time, where I observe rather than immerse. I let people exist in my life without letting them define my emotional state. Their coming doesn’t elevate me, and their leaving doesn’t dismantle me. I believe this is my psyche adapting transforming past intensities into a calmer, more contained awareness. A state where I remain present, yet slightly withdrawn… involved, yet untouched.
