Ozeaon connects open science, collaboration and funding into a single system where research can move into coordinated, real-world outcomes.

The focus is not just generating knowledge, but enabling it to be applied.

From fragmented information to structured action.

Ideas don’t create impact on their own.

They need structure.
They need connection.
They need a pathway to move into the real world.

Ozeaon connects that pathway.

From idea to knowledge,
from knowledge to collaboration,
from collaboration to impact.

Idea → Ozeaon → Impact

Some materials choose their artists.

For Andrea Spencer it was glass. Transparent. Fluid. Breakable. A medium that behaves more like water than solid matter, and demands total presence to control.

Working on the wild North Antrim coast of Ireland, Spencer spends hours at the flame coaxing molten glass into forms that capture something almost impossible to hold: the feeling of nature in motion. A wave mid-curl. Light through water. The moment before something delicate disappears.

Her practice sits at the intersection of craft, ecology and attention. The coast around her is not just a backdrop. It is the source material. Every sculpture carries something of it. The transience. The movement. The quiet power of natural forms that exist briefly and beautifully before they change.

At Ozeaon we believe this is what art at the edge of the ocean does best. It slows us down long enough to notice what we are at risk of losing. And in that pause — something shifts.

Glass breaks. Coastlines erode. Ecosystems change. The question Andrea Spencer's work asks quietly and persistently is whether we are paying close enough attention.

Stop scrolling for a second.

If you have ever felt the weight of what is happening to our ocean and wondered what you could actually do? This is for you.

Ozeaon is not another awareness campaign. It is not another newsletter telling you how bad things are.

It is infrastructure.

A trusted platform where ocean scientists publish their work without paywalls. Where innovators building regenerative solutions get visibility and funding pathways. Where educators connect with communities that need their knowledge. Where the people doing the most important work in the world can finally find each other.

Early Access is coming.

And the founding community - the people who will shape what Ozeaon becomes - is still forming.

This is the moment before it is everywhere.

You already care. You already follow accounts like this one because something in you knows the ocean matters. That the way we treat the living world matters.

Come build this with us.

Ideas can become systems.

Every meaningful transformation begins with an idea.

But ideas alone are not enough.

They need knowledge, collaboration, resources, and the right environment to grow into something that creates lasting impact.

At Ozeaon, we’re building the infrastructure to help make that possible.

Connecting researchers, innovators, creators, communities, and organisations to turn knowledge into collaboration, ideas into projects, and projects into regenerative solutions.

Because the future isn’t just something we imagine.

It’s something we design, build, and regenerate together.

What if the sea is not a barrier between places but a connector between ways of living?

Islands of Conviviality by Jamie Allen asks exactly that.

Islands of Conviviality is a traveling constellation of gatherings, collective meals, reading circles and interventions exploring social autonomy and interdependence through the lens of island spaces.

At its heart is the thinking of Ivan Illich, whose ideas on conviviality were shaped by his childhood on the Dalmatian island of Brač. Illich believed genuine human flourishing required systems that empowered people rather than made them dependent. That the good life was not about more, but about deeper, more reciprocal relationships with each other and the living world.

Jamie Allen and collaborators return to this landscape and this lineage, treating the sea not as a boundary but as a programming site that connects as much as it separates.

At Ozeaon this resonates. The communities who have lived closest to the ocean have always understood what the rest of the world is only beginning to rediscover.

Interdependence is not weakness. It is the condition for resilience.

In July we opened Ozeaon to real users for the first time. Since then, we've been preparing to grow.

Here's what happened over the past two months:

* New development partners: Zentix Soft for the platform and Protonshub Technologies for OCIS
* Susanne Wedin-Schildt, founder and CEO of Ocean Community, joined our Advisory Board
* Two LIFE Programme grant applications submitted, a pitch at EIT Water's WAVEMAKERS and an invitation to the Blue Path to Impact accelerator

We're exploring how Ozeaon can take part in the ECOP Special Event at the UN Ocean Decade Conference in Rio

Next up: Blue Earth Summit in London this October and Web Summit in Lisbon in November. Come say hello 👋

Two months ago, we were asking whether the platform worked. Now we're asking how well we can prepare it, and the community around it, for what comes next.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

Today is World Animal Day.

This year's theme - See the World Through Their Eyes . was chosen because the people making decisions about the climate and the future do so from a human point of view. But animals live with the results.

The official 2026 artwork says it all. It looks out through a fish-shaped lens at the Coral Triangle, showing healthy coral next to bleached coral. The same ocean. Two different futures. Depending entirely on the choices we make.

What does the ocean look like from inside it?

To a whale navigating waters warmed beyond recognition. To a sea turtle swimming through plastic. To a coral polyp bathed in acid. To the 25% of all marine species that depend on reefs already bleaching faster than they can recover.

Animals do not attend climate conferences. They do not vote on emissions targets. They do not choose the temperature of the ocean.

But they live, and die, by every decision we make.

At Ozeaon every piece of science we share, every innovation we amplify and every community we connect is ultimately in service of a living world. One where the fish-shaped lens looks out at a healthy ocean. Not a bleached one.
