👉 REASON= HYDRANGEA ROASTS IN BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA.
How was this final, SUPER FUNKY coffee?! 🫣 When we first cupped this, Grant was reminded of his regular (at the time) breakfast staple: a cream cheese bagel, with some dill 😂 What an out-there processed coffee, and how (coco)nuts were the flavours on this one? 🥥
This coffee was roasted by Hydrangea, founded by Bill and Shuxin, who roast in @corocoffee, a shared roasting space in Berkeley, California 🇺🇸 They’ve been Leaderboard players since S3, and became a coffee roaster around S8 (about a year ago)! Hydrangea is all about light, process- and fruit-forward (no kidding) coffees, and they’re into the weird, funky, out-of-this-world coffees 👽 Bill is a software engineer, and applies his love for nerdy data to roasting profiles and mathy coffee things 📚
Julio Cesar Madrid Tisnés produced this coffee, and is a third-generation producer who, with the help of his biologist daughter Maria Antonia Madrid, focuses on innovative processing 💡 Their farm is called Finca Milan, located in Risaralda, Pereira, Colombia 🇨🇴 This Castillo went through Niu cultured washed processing, a method developed by @cafeuba, where a starter culture and substrate were introduced into the fermentation process 🤓 This combo contains local spices, aromatic plants, and local fruits like coconut (AKA Niu) 🥥
Pretty wild notes from our players on this one, including kaffir lime, coconut, dill pickles, delicate cheese, and fresh butter 🧈🤣
