Laproscopy is becoming more commonplace in vet med surgical procedures like in human medicine due to the benefit of it being minimally invasive (smaller incisions leads to faster and less painful recovery for example). Gastropexy is essentially tacking the stomach to the right abdominal wall to prevent it from twisting (This ‘twisting’ is AKA GDV, Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus: A life-threatening condition that happens more often in deep chested large breed dogs which is why your veterinarian might recommend to get this preventative procedure done if you have an at risk breed).
