Itβs taken me a week of reflection and introspection to digest events of my graduation from
@cmuafrica!
Still, words fail me in describing how I felt on that stage while being awarded with the prestigious Lakshmi Subramanian CMU-Africa Student Excellence Award for the Master of Science in Information Technology program. Even though words arenβt enough to express the overwhelming gratitude I feel, It is my intention that you feel the emotions behind these words Iβve written.
P.S In my mother tongue (Ewe), βthank youβ is Akpe (where my name is derived from). It also loosely translates to βMay you receive a thousand of what you gaveβ. My messages of gratitude are truly and deeply rooted in this saying. To every single person who has poured into me, may you receive a thousand more of what you gave.
Iβd like to thank my family and friends, who have kept me tethered to my essence. These relationships have created a space for me to thrive in my uniqueness, encouraging me to stay true to myself. Without which all these awards and recognition will not be possible. Iβd especially like to extend my gratitude to one of my sisters
@hoggarlicious, and her husband
@michael_a_bentil for coming all the way from Ghana to celebrate with me. Your presence is a present I do not take for granted.
My sincerest gratitude to the faculty, staff and my fellow students at Carnegie Mellon University Africa for creating such an unforgettable learning experience for me to grow both in and out of the classroom. From the moment I stepped foot on campus, Iβve felt immense support from every single person. This community has nourished my mind in ways I could never have imagined.
To the financiers of this milestone,
@mastercardfoundation, my hope and prayer is that I am able to pay forward this kindness to the next generation of young people on the continent. I am eternally grateful for the support Iβve received in developing both my leadership and professional skills.
And to my community here, I do not take for granted your well wishes and encouragement throughout my academic journey.
Akpe.
