On October 16, 1995, hundreds of thousands of people gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for the historic Million Man March — one of the largest gatherings centered on Black life, unity and empowerment in modern American history.

Led by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and supported by Black leaders and organizations from across the country, the march called on Black men to recommit themselves to their families, their communities and one another while confronting racism, economic inequality and the challenges facing Black America.

And despite the name, women were part of the historic day too.

Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, Betty Shabazz, Dorothy Height and Queen Mother Moore were among the prominent Black women who appeared as major speakers, while other women were also present in Washington supporting the gathering.

Attendance estimates varied, but there is no question that the images of the National Mall packed with people became one of the defining scenes of Black organizing in the 1990s.

More than three decades later, the Million Man March remains a reminder of what can happen when Black communities organize around accountability, family, economic power and collective action.

در پی تشدید حملات سـ.ـپاه پاسداران به کشتی‌ها در تنگه هرمز، امیر قطر لب به اعتراض گشود و گفت که حکومت ایران «به‌شکلی آشکار» حاکمیت قطر را نقض کرده است.
او با اشاره به سیاست‌های پیشین خود برای میانجیگری بین ملاها و آمریکا، هشدار داد، تلاش برای یافتن راه‌حل‌های مسالمت‌آمیز برای بحران خاورمیانه به معنای «سهل‌انگاری در دفاع از کشور» نیست و «امنیت کشورهای عضو شورای همکاری خلیج فارس و حفظ حاکمیت آنها موضوعی نیست که بتوان در مورد آن کوتاه آمد.»

تمیم درباره امنیت دریانوردی نیز گفت که بسته‌شدن تنگه هرمز و خسارت‌های واردشده به راس لفان موجب اختلال قابل‌توجهی در صادرات این کشور شده است.

آنچه امیر قطر گفت، یک واقعیت انکار ناپذیر است اما او نباید فراموش کند در ۴۷ سال گذشته تا چه اندازه در بقای جمهوری اسلامی نقش داشته است.

سکوت امیر قطر و سایر رهبران عربی خلیج فارس پس از قتل‌عام خونین مردم ایران در دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴زیرپا گذاشتن ارزش‌های انسانی بود. حمایت آنها از جمهوری اسلامی دقیقا پشتیبانی از ماشین سرکوب و به‌طور مشخص تامین منافع سپاه پاسداران بود، رویدادی که اکنون دود آن در چشم خودشان رفته است.

تمیم در حالی نسبت به افزایش تهدیدات جمهوری اسلامی اعتراض می‌کند که سال‌هاست در نقش وکیل‌مدافع شیطان، رژیم ایران و تروریست‌های نیابتی از جمله حماس، را حمایت می‌کرد.
