If you’re scared of scratching your watch, you’re definitely not my wife 😅 zooming out a little bit more to appreciate how well loved this piece is. I’m personally in the “love it and wear it hard” camp, I think wearing a watch and seeing the scratches tells a story. But those first few scratches still always hurt!

The GMT complication is by far my favorite complication. A simple glance inspires ideas of “where should we go next?”. Desperately missing international travel and hoping to put this complication to use again soon! 🛫🍻

Aaaaand I’M BACK! After taking a long busy summer hiatus, I finally have some time to get back to shooting. Feeling a little rusty but hopefully will get back up to speed relatively quickly 😅 Hope everyone has been well and enjoying their summer! 🍻

Yes, that’s a hole in the dial right in the middle of the “24” 😱 perhaps the strangest and most unique feature of the original airman was a “hacking” feature where a small wire would protrude through that hole when the crown was pulled out, blocking the path of the seconds hand, stopping the movement. The small wire is sadly missing from mine, as they often broke (the wire was extremely thin and therefore relatively fragile). The one advantage to this feature was that it would allow a group of military personnel to “sync” their watches to the second more easily. But it doesn’t help if it breaks and you have a small little wire floating around in your watch 😂

As promised, let’s dive into a couple cool details about the original glycine airman! Seen here: the second “locking crown” in the bottom right that clamps down on the bezel locking it in place. When the crown is unscrewed, it releases the plate allowing the bezel to rotate freely (no clicks). Also, the cyclops magnifier is on the INSIDE of the crystal, a detail you don’t see too often 😎
