3 years ago, Eric Lewis was acquitted on a murder charge in the 2019 death of Christopher Williams over what Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner recently called a flawed and corrupt police investigation. Now, Lewis is the man accused of fatally shooting Philadelphia police officer Shane Seiber on Oct. 10, 2026. Williams' family told CBS News Philadelphia investigative reporter Liz Crawford that they were never notified that the 2023 trial had been compromised and only discovered the new information through Krasner's video about Lewis and his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of officer Seiber. Crawford has reached out to the police department and others involved in the 2019 case and Lewis' acquittal in 2023. The department has not yet provided the full context.
