Ask A Survivor

Our first official Ask A Survivor comes from a survivor of the Cascade School who asks: Where can I find resources to locate a local therapist who might know something about these schools and how to help me?

Great question! Finding a therapist can be challenging even under the best of circumstances. In addition, we recognize that the survivor community has a frequently has a special relationship with "therapy" due to emotional or physical abuse being labeled as "group therapy" within our programs. Even when we do seek out therapy as adults we find ourselves having to re-explain our trauma to a handful of therapists before even finding one who is a good "fit." We hope these tips will help make the process a little bit easier and we want to assure you that we will continue to provide support around this topic.

Looking for additional resources right away?

@everyvoicecoalition had a great post on Finding a Therapist they published last week.

I have a question about a place in Arizona? Mingus mountain academy? I read reviews and see so many abuse allegations. I found out I have a family member there and I’m concerned
