While many visit Switzerland for its alpine lakes, rivers, and mountains, there’s another side of the country that’s often overlooked…

Located in Switzerland’s southernmost canton, Ticino is an Italian-speaking region that feels more like Italy than Switzerland 🇨🇭 The people speak Italian, the architecture looks Italian, and the gelato, pizza, and pasta can rival those across the border. And the weather is hot! Well, for Switzerland standards anyway 😜☀️

In Ticino, you’ll have many beautiful lakes to choose from, including Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore. But for me, the most interesting part of Ticino is up in the mountains ⛰ Go for a drive just north of the lakes, and you’ll stumble into these traditional stone houses that the region is known for. They are not just in one town or one street…they are everywhere. Here are my favorite mountain towns that you’ll want to check out: Corippo, Lavertezzo, Sonogno, and Foroglio. Enjoy! 😁🇨🇭
