On October 30, join me, @diananiniola, @wemaragophala, and @ibrandonvalery in conversation and presentation as my artist residency with the @laundromat_proj comes to a close. The Egungun Project explores the intersections between genealogy, ancestral reverence, and cultural reclaimation. We are honored to be hosting this Open Studio at @baileyscafebk.

Posted @withregram • @laundromat_proj 📣 Hey LP friends and fam! Our next Open Studio is just a few weeks away, and we can’t wait to see you there! Discover Afro-Indigenous genealogy and artmaking with 2024 Bed-Stuy AiR Awóyemi Prolific Jones on Wednesday, Oct 30 at 6:30 PM at Bailey’s Cafe!

✨ ABOUT AWÓYEMI’S PROJECT ✨

“Egungun: The Afro-Indigenous Genealogy Project” uses genealogical and genetic research to encourage healing and creative expression and to pursue reparations for Afro-Indigenous people. At no cost, participants chart their family lineages and take tests from African Ancestry to uncover their ancestral genome, conduct oral history interviews, engage in Indigenous ancestral spiritual rituals, and synthesize their findings in an artistic presentation at Bailey’s Cafe in Bed-Stuy.
