Introducing Trend Grifffy: A Brooklyn-based fashion stylist, designer, and creative, as well as the founder of the clothing brand
@wuz.what. Born and raised in Brooklyn,
@d.unikue.a began his fashion career in 2011 and has since made a name for himself in the industry with his distinctive style and taste in apparel. Growing up, Trend split his time between East New York and Coney Island, and during his high school years (2007-2010), he spent a significant amount of time in Harlem.
As a child, @d.unikue.a balanced his love for basketball with a passion for fashion, always known for his impeccable style. His "fly" look opened doors in the fashion world. After graduating high school and facing unemployment, fashion became his true calling. He spent countless hours trying on outfits and drawing inspiration from creatives like A$AP Rocky, whose appearance on 106 & Park, confidence, and independence pushed him to pursue his own path.
Trend’s personal style is consistent and reflective of his preferences, which he likens to a uniform—wearing what he loves until he’s ready to add new elements to his look. His vision for @wuz.what is to establish it as a lasting staple in fashion, with aspirations to reach the iconic status of brands like Ralph Lauren’s Polo and Nike. Trend describes his aesthetic as "Ghetto Luxury," a mix of elements that traditionally don’t go together, blending vintage with luxury. His goal is to create timeless pieces that embody his bold, boundary-pushing style.
Beyond his own fashion journey, @d.unikue.a is driven by a desire to help others realize their creative potential. Whether it’s through styling outfits or collaborating on creative projects, his goal is to merge contrasting elements to create something fresh and meaningful.
Some major milestones for Trend and Wuz What include his first fashion show, Where You From, on September 14th, the release of his first shirt in November 2023, and a special Juneteenth Celebration shirt drop in June 2024, featuring three colorways. The launch of Wuz What marked a pivotal moment for Trend, solidifying his brand’s identity as a trailblazer in "Ghetto Luxury."
