Fall colors in our corner of the world. Animal migrations mark the season as much or more than any weather event or holiday. Some are goodbyes: yellowtail move from the shallows into deeper water off the coast; migratory mule deer in the southern Sierra Nevada begin to stage along the crest preparing for their journey to wintering grounds in the Owens Valley. But it’s also a time to say hello to crisp mornings and late nights searching for spiny lobster.
