Fall colors in our corner of the world. Animal migrations mark the season as much or more than any weather event or holiday. Some are goodbyes: yellowtail move from the shallows into deeper water off the coast; migratory mule deer in the southern Sierra Nevada begin to stage along the crest preparing for their journey to wintering grounds in the Owens Valley. When I was little I had a recurring dream that I could breathe underwater (I had a system worked out where I took tiny sips of air from a little bubble under my nose). Every minute I spend in the water I relive the joy I felt in those dreams. Earlier this year, I thought I’d challenge myself by enrolling in the @molchanovsfreediving Wave 3 - Master Freediver course offered by @justgetwet_ . As I trained for the course, I figured it was about achieving particular depth, breathhold times, and pool distances, and I felt pretty confident. I quickly learned it’s actually about balance, physiology, safety, and mastery of new skills, and I’m humbled. Now that it’s over, I see I’m just beginning. Thanks to @surfslut for being my dive buddy and to @chrischeezem and @justgetwet_ for blowing my mind. See you out there soon. taken in San Diego, California by @tempisquito

Snapshots from the @ngensonorandesert 2024 Summit in Álamos, Sonora, México, celebration of the unique ecosystems and people of northwestern Mexico and southwestern United States. My NGen board family and I have been living and breathing this event for almost 2 years. Now the event is over, but the energy created in Alamos is its own living thing.
