PETER ELIA | HIKING THE PATH LESS TRAVELLED

Mullerthal Trail, Route One - Echternach to Rosport 😀🇱🇺👍

Today, we’re in lovely Luxembourg. Let me show you this amazing hike from Echternach to Rosport along Route 1 of the Müllerthal Trail.

Starting at Parc d’Echternach, follow the path (we had had to stop and say hello to this fella) and cross over a main road before entering the outskirts of the woods. 

Then, walk through an attractive  tree tunnel until you reach an area of tall, majestic trees. 

Once there, cross the metal bridge and head into a section of the trail where stunning rock formations rise around you, which is often covered  in moss, creating the feel of a dreamlike enchanted land.

It's worth taking the time out to explore these wonderful rocks, and they also make for a great rest or food stop, particularly if you want to stay dry. 

Continuing after lunch, the trail heads uphill with an abundance of mushrooms in all colours, shapes and sizes , adding even more otherworldly charm. And by this point, I've lost all connection with the outside world.

There's time for one last tree hug before leaving the forest behind. The path then takes a descent through a meadow into town and then onto a rather long upward staircase, finishing the hike at the church on the hill in Rosport 

We took the free bus back to Echternach and ended the day with a stroll around Luxembourg's oldest city.
