It’s a new, frightening and rage-inducing year, and I can’t stitch because of carpal tunnel in both my hands. But I can still make small hopeful things that give me a little bit of relief from the hatefulness that seems to get more brazen in its expression every day. Here’s a talisman, made from a hag stone, driftwood, a wooden bead and nettle twine. Hag stones are said to ward off nightmares. If only they could protect us from the nightmare reality of Trump, and the power hungry politicians in Australia and the UK who now hope to bring the same ugliness to their countries. As a disabled person with a gay son and ND husband, this hateful shit feels very close to home. Much love to those who didn’t want this would-be dictator. Keep safe and know you’re not alone.
