Eighteen years and six months of my life spent loving this sweet little black and white lady. Through every loss, every heartbreak, every joy, she was there - the constant in my life, always the comfort. She was the last kitten left in the pet shop that would NOT get in the box, that would climb up and sit on my hip as I walked around the house. She was the beloved family cat who I would force my mum to put on Skype whilst I was in uni, and living in Australia. She was downright suspicious when I met @aidan_myers , taking 3 months to decide he was her new favourite. By the end she was a deaf, demanding old girl who despised other cats and adored any human who was willing to provide a lap.

She’d powered through some health problems for the last 5 years and surprised even the vets with her ability to bounce back. In the end, she told us in no uncertain terms that it was time for her to go and she spent her last weekend basking in the sun, wrapped in a blanket on our laps, eating butter and treats that she was no longer allowed due to her IBD, being visited by all our (her) friends and family. I know she had a beautiful life and, for that matter, a beautiful death but when I remember she’s gone, it’s like a punch in the stomach. I genuinely don’t know how Aidan and I are going to live without her constantly hassling us for food, for attention, for somebody to sit down so she could sit on laps. My heart is broken but I know I would rather feel this pain than to have never had this shouty old lady in my life.
