Today, we welcomed quite possibly the youngest patrons into the library when a mama cat gave birth to three kittens in the ceiling of Sheepshead Bay Library. With the help of a neighborhood rescuer ( @strays_of_brooklyn_ ), library staff patiently waited for 40 minutes, playing kitten meow sounds on a cell phone until the mama cat leaped down from the ceiling, and was safely trapped.
A big thank you to our staff and Gina, for your incredible help in saving this sweet family. The rescuers will join us this Saturday at our Jazz and Dance Under the Sky Festival.

And I think it’s wild when we have to catch birds in our children’s room. This is a whole other level of fun
