One European nation has spent nearly 1.54 times more per person than its closest rival. The data spans 28 years of household consumption estimates from Eurostat—and the lead has shifted only 5 times. 🏆 FINAL RANKING 1. Italy — 277 € 2. Ireland — 180 € 3. Spain — 173 € 4. Iceland — 163 € 5. Cyprus — 94 € 6. Malta — 83 € 7. France — 71 € 8. Slovakia — 68 € 9. Hungary — 66 € 10. Croatia — 66 € 11. Luxembourg — 64 € 12. Greece — 61 € In 1995, Spain held the top spot at €169 per resident. The United Kingdom surged ahead in 1997 with €208, but Italy claimed the number one position in 1999 and has held it unbroken for 22 years. By 2022, Italy reached €277 per head—a commanding lead over Ireland at €180 and Spain at €173. Iceland climbed to fourth place by 2014, breaking into the top tier. These figures are statistical estimates built from user surveys, consumption habits and street prices, not recorded sales. Since the 2014 ESA 2010 revision, EU national accounts must include illegal drugs in household final consumption expenditure. Key moments: • 1995: Spain leads at €169 per head • 1997: United Kingdom takes number one at €208 • 2001: Italy seizes the lead for the final time • 2006: Ireland closes within €7 of Italy • 2014: Iceland passes the United Kingdom into fourth • 2022: Italy at €277—1.54 times Ireland's €180 Where does your country rank? NYC just doubled its artist grants to $10,000, the first increase in nearly 20 years. 🎨💸 Mayor Mamdani's administration is raising the cap as rent, groceries, and child care keep climbing while artist funding stayed flat. Filmmakers, dancers, writers, painters, collectives, and small nonprofits can apply through their borough's arts partner. Bronx applications close Oct. 30, Manhattan on Nov. 12, and Queens on Nov. 17, with Staten Island opening in November. Know an artist in the city? Tag them so they don't miss their deadline 👇 Tap the link in bio for the full list of where and how to apply. #Blavity #NYC #BlackArtists #ZohranMamdani

* Warning: Distressing and graphic language * An undercover investigation by ITV Exposure into Nigel Farage’s Reform UK has found multiple elected councillors and party candidates expressing racist views and using offensive language. ITV has obtained secretly recorded footage showing Reform officials from across England and Wales using violent, racist and sexist language. Councillors Alan Feeney, Chris Whelan and Jamie Campbell did not reply to our request for comment. Councillors Feeney and Whelan have since resigned from Reform UK. In a statement shared with ITV News, Reform UK said: “Where members, activists and councillors have clearly behaved inappropriately, investigations have commenced. In some cases, there have been suspensions and due process must be followed.” “Reform UK has improved and prioritised its vetting procedures, but from time to time, a handful of individuals who do not share our values will initially make it through vetting. This is the same for all organisations.” Watch ‘Undercover: A Year in Reform’ on ITV1 & ITVX from 10:20pm on Sunday #reformuk #reform #politics #solihull #nigelfarage Via ITVNEWS
