a year agoI also still have my Hip Card as well, I have a full sleeve of Tragically Hip themed tattoos, I saw them 43 times in concert, to pin down a favorite memory would be like picking a favorite song. Each show, each lyric, each inspiration or quote from Gord has a different place and time for where I’m at. Perhaps one of the most memorable was being in the audience at Much Music for Gord’s Intimiate & Interactive show. Afterwards, we circled up and chatted with him (before iPhones and selfies), he told us he bought his shirt for $2 at a vintage shop on Queen then if anyone had cinnamon gum. Such a simple interaction - they say never meet your heroes but I’m so richer for having met him a few times. I have a gallery wall in my home with TTH art, autographs, drumsticks from Johnny - this poster just belongs there. ❤️
a year agoMy favourite memory was the first Another Roadside Attraction tour concert in Calgary at Race City Speedway and hearing them sing Blow at High Dough.
a year ago@bigeazzzy my brother-in-law is the biggest Hip fan💜; would love for him to get this.
a year agoA family member worked for RIM. They used to throw these massive Christmas concerts for employees (and a few lucky nephews) back when Blackberry's were cool. Part of the fun was you NEVER knew who was going to play until the show started. On this cold, snowy December night in Toronto, I witnessed the Hip open for Van Halen. No joke. The Tragically Hip opened for Van Halen. It was mind blowing. And yes, Van Halen is Van Halen... They were amazing. But in all honesty, the Hip put on an electrifying show with no big lighting rig and no flashy solos. It was Gord and the boys playing Canadiana with all their hearts. And I'll never forget it. @racheltfig
a year agoSeen them a bunch, but my favourite memory wasn’t actually a live show (though they were amazing) but it was definitely when I was a little kid, on my way to my first guitar lesson and my brother put on their cassette. “Locked in the Trunk of a Car” consumed me and I couldn’t turn them off. Was such an experience for someone completely new to music. When I heard of his passing, ironically I was in the car with my brother only a few kms from where he introduced me to their stuff 2 decades earlier.
a year agoSeeing them at the Molson Speedway in the 1990’s - it was muddy and memorable and when they sang Blow it At high dough, they said “out at the Molson Speedway” and everyone went CRAZY! 🙌🙌
a year agoMy favourtie hip track always changes depending on the season/mood. I'd say right now it would be Bobcaygeon as this was our first dance song our wedding in March.
