Heartened to attend the opening of تكاتف من بحار ساليش الى فلسطين 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗳: 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 with kiddo last night in my studio building in Chinatown. To see the artworks of 22 artists and children from the West Bank amidst the ongoing gen0c1de was moving to say the least, especially as I was trying to explain famine to the 6yo when he saw a neighbourhood poster earlier in the week.
📸 Image 1 - Alaa Rino, Never Before (2025) - ceramic piece of unidentified martyrs' remains in bags, 18 kg for a child, 70 kg for an adult
2 - Days of War poem (Shadi Al-Hareem? I forgot to photograph the label)
3 - Drawings by children from the Rommana Centre, Wadi Al-Samn, Hebron
4-5 - Coffee table display of Palestinian literature and art
6 - Remarks from artist
@rehabnazzal who spoke of how artists found creative ways to bring their works across security checkpoints, always at the risk of confiscation
7 - Ahmed Yasmin, Birth of the Cactus, oil on canvas (2025)
8 - Amr Salama, From the Womb of Suffering, sculpture and shattered clay

The exhibition continues throughout this month (event poster, image 9) with another exhibition, Freedom School, and auction - 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 - opening next weekend
@vinesartsociety (images 10-12). Thank you to all for bringing these works to this coast amidst KKKanada's continued complicity.
Do not miss Rehab Nazzal's films "Canada Park" and "Vibrations from Gaza" screen as part of the Freedom School. The latter film I saw in 2023 and was absolutely stunned and moved by the children in it. Event screening donations support Amani, a young girl from Palestine featured in the film.
