Many people are terrible with narrative. Follow and share if you need communication support. I’ll be launching a program to help social impact leaders refine their linguistic approach to their work and find their voice amid the business and organizing of leading change.
Social impact, DEI, and workplace leaders lose their base, their teams, their communities and more when they are losing the narrative fight (just look at the DNC, or many nonprofit fundraisers). And for good reason. Sociological issues can be complex, and people are busier than ever. I’ve taught classes on executive communications at
@northwesternu Masters of Communications School, the
@kelloggschool of Business, and more. If you’re looking to lead or organize, you have to step away from the emotionality of the pain you want to protect others from to grasp a compelling narrative that permits or impedes it.
Tap in and follow for more. I’ll be posting more of this panel later. It was from a recent national gathering of Black economic development CEOs about what impedes collective change in this season of unprecedented attacks on progress for people of color.
