I’ll be honest, I used to be so damn insecure about my arm. Post stage 1, I questioned if I made the right decision with going through bottom surgery. All the open wounds, the freshness of those wounds, I was truly disgusted not going to lie. I never wanted to touch it. First time I had to wash my arm in the shower, I almost passed out- luckily my mom was there with me for that. Having to wrap and conceal my arm, my leg, my penis, every. single. day. For months- to a year. I asked myself if all of this was truly worth it. I didn’t have an answer at that time, but I knew I needed to just stick through the process. (And there was also no going back😂 so that was my only option anyway). I never wanted to go out in public with my arm. I was very self conscious. To this day, I always know when someone looks/glances at it. But it’s different now compared to then- solely because I gained confidence with it. I needed time to adjust. To realize that this was my norm now. I hated having to wear a sun protectant sleeve in the first year because I knew that just drew more attention to me- people would ask what happened, etc. The way I worked on this insecurity- I would go to the gym without wearing a sleeve. It forced me to get comfortable with seeing it and being in a public setting as well. As I got more comfortable, I started going out at night without long sleeves or a bandage on. After a year, I stopped wearing my sun protectant sleeve and let the sun do its thing (as I have w every other scar on my body). I’m VERY pleased with how my scar has faded and how it looks now. I rubbed vitamin E oil with shea butter lotion on it every single day (still do), wore a silicone sleeve to bed for 2 years every single night (got this from my OT), alongside the sun exposure. I don’t think twice about my arm now. I also do NOT regret bottom surgery by any means. I just needed time to do its thing- that’s why I always say to stay patient. I can tattoo over it if I want- so many people ask this. I don’t plan to right now, nor do I feel the need to. I’ve grown to love my scar and for what it always reminds me of. Idrk why I share all this tbh. Just showing u im human too.
save this post. you might need it on a day your soul craves raw, human connection and beautiful art to look at. which visual world are we stepping into tonight? 👇
Can we talk about DRIVING ANXIETY during PERIMENOPAUSE?! 😩🚗 Baby, I’ve been driving for over 30 years! I’ve survived Dallas traffic, construction, and people who apparently got their driver’s licenses out of a cereal box! Now all of a sudden, my brain wants to hold an emergency meeting every time I get on the highway! 😂 I’m driving 65 mph, minding my business, and my brain says, “BUT WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS? WHAT THE HELL YOU MEAN?! WE’VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR THREE DECADES! 🤣 And don’t let me get on a bridge or have an 18-wheeler pull up beside me! I’m gripping that steering wheel like it owes me child support! Here’s what nobody tells us: Fluctuating estrogen during perimenopause can contribute to anxiety, disrupted sleep, and increased sensitivity to stress. Sometimes that anxiety shows up behind the wheel! A few things that may help: 🚗 Practice slow breathing before driving. ☕ Cut back on caffeine if it makes you jittery. 😴 Prioritize sleep and manage those night sweats. 🧠 Ease back into driving with familiar routes. ❤️ Talk to your doctor about new anxiety, dizziness, or palpitations. Don’t automatically blame hormones! Between the hot flashes, brain fog, and disappearing patience, NOW MY NERVOUS SYSTEM WANTS TO BE A BACKSEAT DRIVER TOO?! Ma’am, GET IN THE BACK AND BE QUIET! I’VE GOT PLACES TO GO! 😂 Ladies, has perimenopause made you anxious about driving, especially on highways, bridges, or at night? Because I KNOW somebody else is having arguments with their own brain at a stoplight! 👇🏽🤣 #Perimenopause #MenopauseHumor #DrivingAnxiety #WomensHealth #HeyShantaQ GrownNotGone
Kali goes OFF on live, accusing Zeus of setting her up by putting her in a small room where she claims she was jumped. Kali makes it clear she’s had ENOUGH, telling production to pack her bags because she’s LEAVING! 👀🔥 @kaliwae2.0 #zeusnetwork #baddiesusa #thezeusnetwork #baddies
Greetings from London, where I’m writing very late tonight, after an extremely busy day - which included an absorbing tour of the new Burberry exhibition at the V&A, thanks to my brilliant friend Oriole Cullen (the senior curator of fashion at the museum), followed by a return visit to the Schiaparelli show. I’ve seen it numerous times already, but always discover new details on each occasion - the imaginative juxtaposition of surrealist art and fashion is truly remarkable, and I’m filled with admiration for the curator, @sonnetstanfill, and her colleagues. Then I returned to @belmondcadogan, to meet Philip, and we went to a splendid book launch at Claridge’s, followed by dinner with friends. It’s now well past midnight - such is the excitement of an evening out together in the capital city - and we have to get up early tomorrow morning. Thank goodness for a wonderfully comfortable hotel bedroom - and I’m sending warm wishes, as always, and waving from Sloane Street…
