Still came up short.

This wasn’t the day that I hoped for, but proud of what I was able to accomplish. The Goal was 100 miles, which I failed. BUT the day was not a failure by any means. Holding my head up high, gave 110% of what I had on the day that’s all I can ask. First 38 Miles went great and was moving at a great pace and feeling solid. Started to have symptoms of an electrolyte imbalance leaving Twin lakes. Once I hit the high-alpine at 12,000 ft on Hopes Pass my stomach flipped and I couldn’t keep any fluids or gels down. Went 8-hours with no food or water, battled to Windfield and back over Hopes pass for the second time, making it back to Twin Lakes before the 10:15pm cut off. But after 18-hours I only peed twice, and my feet were utterly destroyed. I knew my race was over. My quest for 100 Miles isn’t over, and the lessons learned on Saturday are priceless. So much respect for this distance, and Leadville will be Leadville - no one is immune to its challenges.
