OK. So this is a scary video to put out there as I’m definitely not looking my best, but that’s what MCAS (and many other conditions) does to you some days, right?! 😳

There are dozens of possible symptoms of mast cell activation syndrome, and we all have different ones.

They can be skin issues, gut issues, neurological and more.

I had a lot of these from other diagnosed conditions, but one day I started to get really painful facial flushing. It felt like severe sunburn, in the middle of winter.

Walking to work I figured I may have a virus, and that it would last a week or so. That was about ten years ago.

It was the sign to me that I needed medical help as something was different, and incredibly painful.

These days I still have flushing. I have it right now as I’m typing this. But it comes and goes, is much milder, and usually I know what my trigger is.

I guess what I’m saying is that if you’re worried about a new symptom then be sure to see a medical doctor. I know that can be tough, and I had to see quite a few to get the right diagnosis as MCAS isn’t well known. But it’s worth getting second, third, fourth or fifth opinions.

Oh and the sweaty face and unwashed hair was because I had been walking/ jogging 😜

Hi very interested… I have MCAS and this symptom, but no moisturiser ever soothes it? Is moisturiser a waste of time for others? My flares seem worse in the afternoon, but anything in the face seems to make it worse? ❤️

How was MCAS diagnosed, and do you take antihistamines or quercetin?

I’ve been going through the same with a severe acne flare at 62 years old 🤦🏼‍♀️. Migraines are persistent, my body is fighting me. Gaining weight when I’ve never gained before. Trigeminal neuralgia, fibromyalgia, MCAS, Alopecia areata, multiple sclerosis. Good grief😳 I’ve managed most of it but the acne is ticking me off🤬. Dermatologist declined my thought on rosacea, primary care says it’s hormones, neuro says “ I don’t have a clue”, endocrinologist is apparently mute because I cannot get a call back😵‍💫. Chronic illness is awful. Thank you for bringing your issues to us for educational purposes. It provides us with options to look further at how we live and areas to improve upon and also lets us know we are not alone, not crazy and the pain is real. 💜

I’ve had this for two years. Taking cromolyn sodium but not sure if it’s working

I have the unexplainable flushing some days too. Thank you for sharing this. I’ve been to over 60 doctors over the past 4 years and no one can quite figure it out. I was tested for MCAS but it came back negative. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ll keep digging until I have an answer.

I hate this symptom! It started in high school.

I’ve been officially diagnosed with MCAS by an immunologist/allergist and flushing burning was my first symptom. Stress/sun and heat make it worse, but it’s painful and feels like sunburn. I’m now starting a treatment plan alongside supplements and diet so fingers crossed for some relief. Glad it’s not just me xx

I get it on my ears/behind my ears and my neck/sideburns! It’s the weirdest feeling, the whole cartilage on my ears goes bright red and burning, pumping off heat, no idea why!

I get the burning but rarely the actual flushing - like my skin and my mouth are on fire! I have also had what the drs called “IBS” my whole life, but since my MCAS/HaT diagnoses and treatment, as long as I stick to a low histamine diet, the IBS is gone. I am in my mid-50s! I wish I’d known about this 20 or 30 years ago!
