A belated announcement that I am delighted and honoured to have won the 2025 APRA AMCOS award for Excellence in Experimental Practice!
To celebrate here are some excerpts from the work The Breath Becomes The Wind 🌬️
In this work, I was exploring the anatomy of the clarinet in relation to close and unusual mic placements to hear the instrument from different perspectives.
Big thanks to the art music awards for creating this opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible work that is made in this country and to @liquid_architecture for commissioning the piece and creating an opportunity to dream a bit larger. Big thanks also to sound engineer @pattelfer who was a dream to work with throughout the development and performance, his genuine excitement about sound is contagious! Thanks also to @artsmerri_bek for the Coburg courthouse residency where I had the space and time to explore spinning mics around and dragging speakers all over the place to open up some exciting new places in my practice! And of course thanks to @phjknight for nominating me and generally being such a super supporter 🙂 and @niki.johnson.sound for accepting the award on my behalf (wish I could have been there with you all!)
