Females will paralyze a tarantula, drag it into the burrow, and lay a single egg on it. When the larva hatches, it has a fresh food source. 🕷️
Despite their intimidating size and sting (ranked among the most painful in the insect world!), tarantula hawks are not aggressive toward humans.
They're one of the most fascinating (and fierce) pollinators in Orange Hills and part of why preserving this land matters.
Help us protect their habitat by saying no to Orange Heights. Link in our bio to sign the petition!

I think Jennifer Turner should only be allowed to drink straight roundup, every time she opens her lips.

Amazing video! Incredible watching her excavate! She's magnificent and so glad I won't ever cross her path as a tarantula; seems like one of the most grisly ways to go... slowly eaten alive! ... I wonder if her venom anaesthetizes as well as paralyzes?

I had an interesting encounter with these - we had an ant invasion so I would put the cat food bowl in the middle of a pan of water & in the morning 2x I found dead t-hawks in the water. I love our tarantula friends so wasn’t sad to find the 2 deceased. Tarantula-win.
