[PLAY KK Diary] ep1. Connection - Preparation
A reflection on the journey of Play KK, a KF Public Diplomacy Project in 2023.
Let’s follow Ink’s encounters in Kenya.

To connect, we had to reach out.
To reach out, we had to understand.
To understand, we needed to have an ongoing effort…

Creating connections demands a wide range of understanding.

Understanding the culture I belong to.
Understanding the culture that the other people belong to.
Understanding the work I’m doing right now.

The task demanded what we understand not only others — but also ourselves.
And that means constantly asking ourselves.
”Do I truly understand?”

Connection has no time frame.
Connection is a movement.

Because we are people who long to connect,
We believe that what we’ve made
will be the beginning of something new.

With that belief in mind,
We packed our bags and set off for Kenya.

2023 한국국제교류재단 국민공공외교 지원사업 [플레이 케이케이]의 여정과 회고.
케냐를 처음 마주했던 순간,
그리고 콘텐츠를 통해 케냐인들과 처음 교감했던 인경의 목소리.

연결되고자 했더니,
우선 다가가야 했다.
다가가고자 했더니,
이해가 필요했다.
이해하고자 했더니,
지속적인 노력이 필요했다.

연결은 다양한 이해를 필요로 한다.
내가 속한 문화에 대한 이해,
상대가 속한 문화에 대한 이해,
내가 지금 하고 있는 일에 대한 이해들…

이해한다는 것은 무엇보다도 외부에 대한 이해 뿐만 아니라 우리 자신을 잘 이해함을 의미한다.

이를 위해서 우리 스스로에게 계속 질문을 던져야 한다.
“내가 정말 확실히 이해하고 있는가?

연결엔 마침표가 없다.
연결은 강한 운동성이다.

우리는 연결되고 싶은 사람들이기 때문에,
우리가 끝낸 작업과 준비가
다시 새로운 시작을 만들어낼 것임을 믿는다.

이 믿음을 가지고,
케냐로 떠날 채비를 했다.
