“AFRO” pronounced as [ /ˈafrō/ ].
On the surface, AFRO simply means kinky or curly hairstyle of African (or mixed African) origin. Throughout history different AFRO hairstyles were used to express beauty and also to define hierachy and status within some African tribes. AFRO is the ultimate symbol of Black pride, beauty, and heritage. And as such AFRO has also been most recently used by Africans (and people of African decent) as a larger symbol of their resistance to oppression of any kind.

“AFRO-“ can also be used as a combining form. i.e, African [PLUS] something else. For example, “Afro-Asiatic” (meaning “of or relating to Africa and Asia”). Here at AFROHADA, our aim is to capture and celebrate all these meanings of AFRO in an extended world of artistic fusion, starting with Korea, Korean language, art and culture.

하다(hada) basically means ‘Do‘ in Korean. But it’s used as ‘Do’ and ‘Be + Adjective’ (descriptive verbs instead of adjectives). 하다 verbs are made of a noun + a 하다 conjugation.

When it comes to [AFRO]+[HADA], it becomes [DO(BE) AFRO]! We will showcase various forms of Afro cultures by various reaction videos, concept photos, and journals….🌍✨

This isn’t content about Africa, but we made this video to share personal moments - welcoming the New Year in the UK with our thoughts while in Cornwall, west of England. It’s winter and off tourism season, but it was truly beautiful. Wishing everyone a happy 2026. 🫶🏾🖤

[PLAY KK Diary] ep1. Connection - Preparation
A reflection on the journey of Play KK, a KF Public Diplomacy Project in 2023.
Let’s follow Ink’s encounters in Kenya.

To connect, we had to reach out.
To reach out, we had to understand.
To understand, we needed to have an ongoing effort…

Creating connections demands a wide range of understanding.

Understanding the culture I belong to.
Understanding the culture that the other people belong to.
Understanding the work I’m doing right now.

The task demanded what we understand not only others — but also ourselves.
And that means constantly asking ourselves.
”Do I truly understand?”

Connection has no time frame.
Connection is a movement.

Because we are people who long to connect,
We believe that what we’ve made
will be the beginning of something new.

With that belief in mind,
We packed our bags and set off for Kenya.
