How to crackle and weather a sonic screwdriver 101:
Warm up the Montana crackle white and chestnut brown paint in dehydrator (or warm water)
1️⃣Spray down a base coat of chestnut brown, be sure to have even layers
2️⃣Wait 45 minutes
3️⃣Spray the white crackle in thin even layers, the more uneven, the weirder the crackle
4️⃣Set it in warm dehydrator or warm oven over night
5️⃣To achieve the weathered look, I used cue tips dipped slightly in rubbing alcohol and slowly “painted” away the paint so the bare metal shown. I also used a flat head screwdriver to scrap away for more control.
6️⃣To get rid of the white tones and make it more “storm grey” I used Vallejo weathering powders (black, sienna, and umber) to get the desired grubbiness.
7️⃣Clear coat. I ised 2k clear in an airbrush to give it a more durable finish. Rustoleum or any other clear would work as well.
8️⃣Admire your work and show your friends!
