Amy’s fat sister 😆 This is easily one of my favourite cosplay get-ups ever. Mainly cos it’s so simple. Massive credit to AK wigs, Blackpool who made the hair for me years ago. It is a testimony to his work that it still looks fabulous today. The hair absolutely makes the costume…even if my neighbour hated the individual weft gluing debacle. And where did I wear this out too? Ohh to a chilled Sunday afternoon social event. Always important to have an impact in life ☺️ Sadly no crazy heels as my right foot has been playing up so had to wear sensible heels 🙄 Word to the wise on temporary tattoos… they are not that temporary! Cosplayed for years and can’t believe I’ve done it again. Glad I’m on hols and my arms are covered up while I have Amy et al. on display. When will they leave? Legal sports betting, recreational weed, and porn on every phone all arrived within the last twenty years, but the consolation vice most Americans are hooked on first, usually before they can read, is junk food. It works as an instruction manual for how every consolation vice gets built: deregulate the product, capture the agencies meant to police it, and then consecrate the damage as personal autonomy. Corporate interests handle the first two steps, and radlib rhetoric handles the last. First, the industry fights off any serious regulation of what goes into food, how it’s marketed to children, and what runs off the farms that grow it, so it can sell engineered addiction to people from the moment they can recognize a logo. From there the industry captures the state: federal dietary guidance gets shaped by its lobbying, federal money flows to the corn and soy that become syrup and feedlot meat, and the fast food chains and Walmarts that sell it pay so little that their full-time workers are among the largest groups of SNAP and Medicaid recipients in the country. Americans subsidize their own poisoning at every step, from the seed to the sludge they’re handed at the drive-through. This produces a predictable crisis: over half of what Americans eat is ultra-processed, about 40 percent of adults are obese, child obesity is at a record high, and type 2 diabetes in kids is projected to rise nearly 700 percent. Once the population has been sufficiently poisoned, the activists arrive to embrace the damage as identity. Actually, you can be healthy at any size. Actually, BMI is racist. Actually, a soda tax is an attack on communities of color. Actually, restricting what SNAP can buy is just stigmatizing the poor. The profiteers make the public sick, and the sickness gets rebranded as an identity in need of protection, but the protection only runs one way: against anyone who calls it unhealthy, and never against the companies that caused it. For the companies, it’s a marriage made in heaven: their dying, addicted customers are shielded from shame, and the positivity movement defending them gains new members every day the subsidized poison we eat does its work.
