While I was @spartanrace in Portugal last month, it was the anniversary of an accident that nearly ended my life & for which I was told, "you'll never race again." Yeah....okay.

Despite the doom & gloom prognosis, I was given the gift of a 2nd chance. The gift of perspective. The gift of spirituality. The gift of survival. The gift of healing, perseverance, will-power. It was the realization that you're your own best adbocate & coming back rested entirely on my shoulders. It's equal parts the best thing that ever happened to me & the worst thing that ever happened to me.

I know every day is a gift & none are promised. I don't get mired down by societal BS, drama, politics, endless outrage. No pitty parties. I believe every day is an opportunity. I don't waste my energy, focus, days or life. I'm acutely aware of how quickly things can change - before you even know it happened. So I take nothing for granted. I prioritize my lifestyle above all else.
