A Few months ago marked my 20th year in the beautiful martial art that changed and moulded my life to where I am now.
I remember jumping into my first tournament after 2 months of training, I got killed…but that feeling of getting smashed stuck with me and still fuels me to compete and test myself to this day.
To say things have changed in the last 20 years is an understatement, lots of ups and plenty of downs but i managed to navigate it all with the help and support of my students/team.
I was never meant to be a “leader” but I know that’s the one responsibility that helped get me through those tough times, one thing all my students past and present can say about me it’s that I don’t quit and hopefully when times eventually get rough for them then can look at the old guy and realize if someone like me can persevere ….so can they 👊
Bjj has very little to do with chokes, medals or fame….its about who you are…your gritt and staying true to yourself, your team and the ones you love…..that’s it
To all my Students, teammates and friends I wish you all a very happy 2026!
See you all on the Mats and remember…you don’t have to be a Hero in everyone’s story….just be authentic! 👊🤘
