I think the Wertheimer family, the family that owns Chanel put more money and effort into the Chanel brand (maintaining a more luxury brand like purchasing couture workrooms like embroidery companies and other handmade products that brings couture to life) than LVMH has done with Dior and it’s other designer priced brands. Bernard Arnault & LVMH have a different approach to maintaining luxury brands by adding lower priced divisions to their offerings and increasing their name recognition and sales numbers. Chanel has been true to Haute Couture and Luxury RTW. They have never done anything in the “Bridge” or, “Contemporary” category of clothing which makes them more appealing to the designer customer.
