7 months agoThere's alot more behind the scenes why we became refugees..that covert war took many rare resources..#1 was laser bores, then the gold for the economic society infrastructure and technology that we have today, and then the drugs/meds..just some prime examples..Laos was the first modern-day country they tested their mass destruction weapon on and the bombs drop that was the equivalent of 1 Hiroshima nuke..in the background, many wanted the French out and US n the the world shadow Governments needed to secure their wealth..I won't go any further..keep digging if you can find the "truth"...
7 months agoThis is such a deep emotional and symbolic way of interpreting the word szoon for “center” and szoon for “zero/empty” that I had never thought of. I can imagine now the how jarring the word is for the people that had to live it. Thanks for sharing.
8 months agoAs I read I watched my parents play with my nephew. The life they lived before us is a story we were told but only late at night when the memories became too much to keep inside. Then tucked back inside to keep locked away. Thank you for telling these stories.
8 months agoThank you for sharing this. I am visiting Ubon for the first time after being born inside “szoon” in two days. I’m full of mixed emotions and this blog is hitting me profoundly. Can anyone tell me where it was located? My mom couldn’t tell me.
8 months agoSuch a great read. We need more stories like this to share with the world. We heard our parents/elders stories of refugee camps growing up but I would have never thought to associate the word “szoon” like that 😢 so dehumanizing. I hope our elders all heal as we are not 0 we are 💯 💪
8 months agothank you for taking the time to share about the histories that shaped our parents, aunties, uncles, and elders… so much of their strength was forged in experiences many of us can only begin to imagine… especially for families fleeing their homeland and surviving refugee camps in search of safety and hope… these stories honor their sacrifices, their resilience, and the stories that might otherwise go untold… it means more than you know to see those journeys remembered and respected… so grateful for you for helping keep their legacy alive 💛
