Sucks this movie didn’t do good. I saw it twice in theaters. Unfortunately everyone else only wants to pay to see whatever new installment of some milked franchise is out. Will Verbinski have to take another decade long break from filmmaking after this loss of money?

Today is my mom’s birthday. To celebrate, we’re releasing this masterpiece from the archives. I considered giving zero context, but that would be an injustice to the incredible and over the top woman that is my mother. Four years ago, Cole, Ben and I were on a work trip in Brazil, staying at the literal Copacabana when we called my mom to wish her a happy Mother’s Day. I kid you not, 45 minutes after learning where we were staying, my mother had written, performed, and recorded a personalized rendition of “Copacabana” about the three of us. We received the voice memo while we were still eating dinner. Naturally, we made a music video in response. Naturally, it has taken us four years to release it. Anyway, this is my mother. Hysterical, wildly creative, endlessly supportive, and a woman who has never met an occasion she couldn’t turn into a full-scale musical production. She loves my friends like her own and has taught me that life is infinitely more fun when you commit to the bit, laugh at the days to come and trust the universe’s magic and signs. Happy birthday, Maman. I love you to the moon and back. 💜

Before his death in 1924, Vladimir Lenin dictated a political testament in which he warned about Joseph Stalin’s growing influence and recommended that he be removed from his position as General Secretary of the Communist Party. Lenin expressed concern that Stalin had accumulated too much authority, particularly through his control over party appointments and internal affairs. He also criticised Stalin’s behaviour, describing him as excessively rude and impatient when dealing with fellow party members. Lenin feared that these characteristics, combined with his increasing power, could threaten the party’s stability and lead to abuses of authority. Rather than demanding Stalin’s complete removal from political life, Lenin proposed replacing him as General Secretary with someone more patient, respectful and willing to cooperate with other senior officials. His recommendation was intended to prevent too much power from becoming concentrated in the hands of one individual. Lenin’s testament also assessed other prominent Bolsheviks, including Leon Trotsky, whom he regarded as exceptionally capable but overly confident and inclined toward administrative arrogance. His wider concern was that personal rivalries and disagreements among senior leaders could divide the Communist Party following his death. Although Lenin’s warnings were discussed within the party leadership, Stalin retained his position and eventually consolidated his control over the Soviet Union, making the testament one of the most significant documents in the history of Soviet leadership struggles. 📜🇷🇺
