Release & Let Go Prompt 20
Finding ways to lean into self-compassion… not just this week, but every week.
I’ve been sitting with this for a couple of weeks. Planning a big life celebration for my mom, turning 70 and retiring from her career, has had us going through old photos, honoring her life and everything she’s poured into others.
And somewhere in that, I came across this photo of me.
I was a young wife. Insecure. Confused. Pressured.
A young therapist. Holding so much anxiety and uncertainty.
I remember overworking myself at my job, pushing myself in the gym, and not being kind to my body with how I approached nutrition.
Looking at her now… I just feel tenderness.
I would tell her: you are more than enough. You belong.
Yes, you are different, but that’s because you are one of a kind.
You are loved. And I love you.
And maybe this is my reminder, even now, to turn that same compassion inward.
I’m good at loving others.
I’m learning to love on me the same way.
Nothing perfect, just intentional.
A little more compassion, day by day.
