We all have our “things”

My thing is that I always feel like I don’t know enough.

Backstory:
My entire life, I’ve felt like I was behind.

English was my second language, and I really struggled with reading.

I write the way I talk, and I’ll probably never be perfectly grammatically correct. I always knew just enough to pass the test.

I felt insecure about this for years because it made learning difficult and I would always get embarrassed when someone corrected me.

When I decided I wanted to go to music school, I guessed on my theory exam and got an 83 because “the notes looked like an upside-down snowman… so that was probably the inverted third.”

Things just made sense differently in my head.

Throughout the years, I found myself in rooms with some of the most incredible artists, teachers, leaders, mentors thinking…

“How the F* did I get here, I have no idea what I’m doing.”

I felt like such a small fish fraud in a sea of really educated, brilliant big fish.

When I was in Costa Rica, looking at the sunset and this whirlwind of a life, I felt so proud of myself because I realized that actually… taking action, learning along the way and being curious is exactly the thing that got me to where I am today.

It was such a relief learning this about myself because It felt like I could finally put the voice telling me I’m not good enough or smart enough, to rest.
