Sooooo I thought I was walking into a classroom... but it turned out to be a hall full of 1000+ young women!
My first mission trip took me to Accra Girls’ Senior High School in Ghana, where we gifted sanitary products and had the opportunity to speak into the futures of so many students.
Truthfully, I didn’t have a word prepared.
I assumed I was there to observe the other incredible women speaking that day. But on the drive up, I was asked if I’d be willing to share a few words too.
So I spoke about something that means a lot to me: identity.
Simply put, it’s how confident a person is in their perception and definition of themselves.
You see, when young people have a firm understanding of who they are, it shapes everything that follows.
The decisions they make. The opportunities they pursue. The things they refuse to compromise on.
And as a Christian, identity begins with knowing who you are in Christ.
Rather than thinking your value is something to be earned, it begins with the truth of what God has already spoken over you.
That you are loved, chosen, forgiven, and created with a PURPOSE 👑
Often, we base our identities on careers, achievements, relationships, or appearance.
But the moment those things change, so can our sense of being – leaving us empty and dejected.
Now when your identity is rooted in something true AND unshakeable,
it doesn’t shift every time life does.
Growing up, I alwayssss appreciated it when people came into schools, etc to speak about possibilities.
One single conversation can plant a thought that grows for YEARS.
And it’s the kind that makes you think, “If they can do it… maybe I can too.”
