A few blocks from Tiffany - and a lifetime ago - I was born in the Center of the Known Rican Universe. The sidewalk you see, the buildings, the cars, were the landscape to my earliest memories of being alive.
Tomorrow, I’ll be back in the boro of my birth to exhibit “New! Yo! Rico!” my most personal vintage work. This is where it should be, in a boro that has withstood the worst, while it nurtured our best.
And that makes me smile.
