This past weekend, the Longwood/Hunts Point Biennial brought together artists, spaces, and communities across the Bronx.

Hosted by Casita Maria, BronxArtSpace, and Inspiration Point, the weekend celebrated the depth and energy of Bronx creative culture. All exhibitions will remain on view through May—so make sure to stop by. Moments like this remind us that the Bronx isn’t just where art happens—it’s where it lives.

UP IN THE BRONX…

The Fam and I had a great time yesterday at two great exhibitions that opened up at @wallworksny. Congrats to OG Bronx photographers David Gonzalez @104bx and Ricky Flores @rickyflores on their respective shows, New! Yo! Rico! and Unprocessed Materials — Multiple Containers. These intimate solo exhibits feature incredible moments in time captured by two 🇵🇷 photographers whose incomparable images are both culturally and historically significant. Thanks to @crashone and the good folk and WallWorks for the hospitality and good seeing the homies @dero_tfa and @sienide during my travels. Check out @wallworksny for more info on New! Yo! Homecoming

A few blocks from Tiffany - and a lifetime ago - I was born in the Center of the Known Rican Universe. The sidewalk you see, the buildings, the cars, were the landscape to my earliest memories of being alive.

Tomorrow, I’ll be back in the boro of my birth to exhibit “New! Yo! Rico!” my most personal vintage work. This is where it should be, in a boro that has withstood the worst, while it nurtured our best.

And that makes me smile.
