🔥This cinnabar-coated selenite crystal cluster, sourced from Bijia Mountain Antimony Mine in Weishan, Yunnan, is a stunning assemblage formed in a low-temperature hydrothermal vein. The transparent to translucent selenite crystals present a platy habit with glossy, clear faces. Vivid crimson cinnabar coats them in thin, delicate films and also penetrates just beneath the surface of the selenite, tinting the crystals with rich, multi-tonal red hues. In places, distinct cinnabar crystal striations are visible, creating a striking contrast of color and texture against the clear selenite. Stibnite crystals are visible at the base of the specimen, confirming that the entire cluster grew upon a stibnite matrix, forming a classic low-temperature hydrothermal paragenetic sequence. The entire cluster boasts a complete, well-defined structure and distinct layering, making it a top-tier specimen of its kind.
