On May 3rd, we held the Festival of Resistance / Festival de Resistencia on Flower Drive. It was a beautiful day of stunning performances, empowering workshops, handcrafted goods, and community grounded in internationalist resistance.
We are beyond grateful to all our attendees, vendors, performers, volunteers, and partners @midnightbooksla and @southcentraltenants. ❤️🔥Thanks to all of you, we raised $4,454 for Flower Drive Tenants Association, La Comisaría, and the Sameer Project’s Eid Al-Adha campaign!❤️🔥
‼️CALL TO ACTION‼️Help oppose the displacement of Flower Drive by submitting a comment on the Environmental Impact Report for the proposed luxury USC student housing development that would displace dozens of working class Black and immigrant families from their longtime rent-controlled homes. As Doña Inés of the Flower Drive Tenants Association reflected, “Todos estamos unidos por la misma causa, ayudándonos mutuamente a defender nuestros derechos a existir.” We were all united by a single cause: helping one another defend our right to exist.
In the struggle against US-led imperialism from South Central to Gaza: ¡El pueblo unido jamás será vencido! ¡Que vivan los inquilinos de Flower Drive @southcentraltenants! ¡Que vivan los vendedores ambulantes de Northeast LA @la.commissary! ¡Desde el río hasta el mar, Palestina será libre!
