Today, I announce my retirement from international football.

This is not a decision I have made lightly. Since the Olympics, I have spent a lot of time reflecting and speaking with my family, friends, teammates and coaches. I know in my heart that now is the right time.

For over a decade, representing England has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. To wear the Three Lions, compete on the international stage, travel the world and captain my country is something I could only ever dream of as a young boy.

Every time I stepped onto the pitch, I gave everything I had. For my teammates, my family, the deaf community and everyone who believed in me.

Walking away is incredibly difficult, but after years of pushing my body, battling injuries and balancing my coaching ambitions, I know I can no longer give the role the commitment it deserves.

I leave with immense pride in what we achieved together. We helped raise the profile of deaf football and leave the England programme in a stronger place for the next generation.

To every teammate, coach, member of staff and supporter who has been part of this journey — thank you. Your trust, friendship and support have meant everything to me.

While my playing career with England comes to an end, I hope my journey with England is not over. I look forward to exploring opportunities to give back to the game through coaching.

Wearing the Three Lions shirt has been the greatest honour of my life.

And the number 12 was never just a number.

It represented pride, sacrifice, passion and a determination to give absolutely everything for my country.

Now it’s time to pass it on.
